Corbett Tiger Reserve is India’s oldest national park also known as the land of Roar (Tigers), Song (Birds) & Trumpet (Elephants), is located between the Himalayas and the Terai. Corbett with its remarkable variety of landscapes from mountains to grasslands, from Sal forests to marsh and rivers, allows visitors to get a complete jungle experience by staying in a forest rest houses located inside the tiger reserve. Approximately 200 tigers live here in the foothills of the Himalayas, sharing the land with leopards, elephants, sloth bears, mugger crocodiles and some 500 species of birds.

I've been to quite a few National Parks all around India, but there is something mystical something magical and something so powerful about Corbett that just cannot be matched. The experience is so humbling, calming and healing. Everytime you go there you will feel at peace. It just has so much to offer, with its remarkable variety of landscapes, life flourishes in every inch of Corbett. I have been going to Corbett for the past 15 years. Unlike other national parks in India, tigers in Corbett are much more secretive and elusive. So to photograph them in their natural behaviour is much more challenging here. But clients love visiting Corbett for a multitude of reasons; the chance to stay inside the park in one of the old style forest bungalows (no where else in India are we allowed to stay inside the core area of the forest except Corbett), the chance to see tigers of course, the rare chance to see Wild Indian elephants, the chance to see the prehistoric looking Gharial crocs and for some of the best birding in India.

So for those of you that might want to experience the incredible thrill that is seeing tigers in the wild then please do get in touch. For more details please simply email me at nitish.madan@gmail.com

As a photographer myself, I totally understand the need of other photographers. I work closely with the clients to ensure they return home with a portfolio of images that they would be proud to show to their friends, family and colleagues. As a Skipper and Naturalist, I will be guiding in all aspects of photography, natural history, animal behaviour and more. I can also help them with light, composition and different ways of viewing a scene to expand their creativity. Off the field I can help them with post processing their images, so they have a “Wow!” factor. I will also help the clients to prepare for their journey with advice on what gear to bring and what to expect during their travels.

Tiger photography is not an easy thing to do. Unlike, for example, Lions in Africa, Tigers in India are rare and far more secretive. Plus there is a world of difference from a tiger sighting and a good tiger photo-op. I lead from the front and make the decisions about where we go, I have over 500 tiger safaris now under my belt so know the park inside out and so am able to make sensible decisions to ensure that you have the best chance of being in the right place at the right time!

Photographers of all levels are welcome, from beginners to professionals, from iPhone and Smart Phone users to bridge and mirrorless photography enthusiasts to experienced professionals carrying large amounts of photographic equipment.

Photographic Equipment

The most used focal lengths with a full-frame DSLR or mirrorless cameras are usually between 100 to 500mm.

Corbett has breathtakingly beautiful landscape and is full of magnificent panoramic views so a wide-angle in the 24-70mm range is ideal.

Tripod is not required on this tour as there will be no space to mount it on the safari vehicle. Most of the time you will be hand-holding whatever kit you have as the action is very fast paced, beanbags will be supplied and you can also use the vehicle support.

If you have questions about what equipment you ought to bring, please feel free to contact me.

We will take a direct train to Corbett on next day afternoon, it leaves Delhi at 3.30 pm and reaches Corbett (Ramnagar) at 8.30 pm. We stay at a nice boutique wildlife lodge right outside Corbett national park just for the night. This lodge is just 15 mins from the main gate of the National Park, at a very good location. I have been staying at this property for many many years.

Day 3 to Day 6 (Six back to back Safaris in Corbett National Park)

We will be up early with tea / coffee for our entry into the park. The forest rest house is 30 km inside the national park. There will be no internet connectivity inside and we will be cut off from the rest of the world for the next 3 days while we are in the park and just be one with the nature, enjoying the wilderness and will see whatever nature will want us to see.

Day 6 (Check out from Corbett)

After completing our 6th and final safari, we will check out from the park to catch the afternoon train to Delhi. Train departs at 3 pm and we will be back in Delhi around 9 pm.
